Michael Sceats
PRACTICE MANAGER & SOLICITOR
Michael brings extensive legal and leadership experience to Mactodd, having joined the firm in June 2026 as the Practice Manager for the Queenstown and Cromwell offices.
Raised in Hawke’s Bay, Michael completed a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts at Victoria University of Wellington. His diverse legal career spans private practice, legal aid, sole practice, and role as a Police Prosecutor. This broad background equips Michael with a comprehensive understanding of the legal landscape, enabling him to support staff and clients from all backgrounds. In addition to his legal practice, Michael has held key leadership positions within the community sector. He has managed both a Community Law Centre and a Pacifika NGO, demonstrating a commitment to accessible justice and community advocacy.
Michael relocated to Queenstown in 2022 and resides in Queenstown with his family. Outside of his professional commitments, he enjoys running, skiing, and hiking. He is also a keen guitar student with a passion for collecting musical equipment (GAS).
Michael is delighted to be part of the Mactodd team and looks forward to engaging with colleagues and clients across the region.
