Experience:

Bryce graduated from the University of Otago in 1971 and worked for 18 months with the Perpetual Trustee and Estate Agency Company in the specialised area of Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning. He was then appointed as the District Solicitor for Southland and Otago of the then government departments, State Advances and Rural Bank of New Zealand. Bryce spend two years in this position dealing mainly with urban and rural conveyancing and government lending.

Bryce then travelled extensively before starting a general law practice in Surrey, England after being admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. In England Bryce specialised in Corporate and Commercial Law, Property Law and Trusts and Asset protection.

Bryce returned to New Zealand in 1995 and joined Mactodd as a senior assistant to Graeme Todd dealing mainly in commercial and corporate law and rural and urban conveyancing.

Bryce became an associate of the firm in October 1995 and a Partner in November 2001.

Today Bryce is the partner responsible for undertaking all property work for the Queenstown-Lakes District Council including preparation of all Council leases, licences and easement documentation and agreements for major projects such as Council subdivisions, marina, acquisitions of land for infrastructure projects such as waste water disposal systems and sports fields. This also involves extensive knowledge of the Reserves Act in the administration and leasing of Council owned reserves.

Bryce has also acted for a number of large corporate clients in the area of transport, rural and urban subdivisions, commercial buildings, tourist related activities and viticulture developments. These include a number of high worth overseas clients so that Bryce has developed special expertise in making successful applications to the Overseas Investment Office for the purchase of sensitive land including high country pastoral leases, vineyards and other farm land.

Bryce also undertakes residential and commercial conveyancing, business acquisitions, trusts and estate planning.

Bryce is an avid follower of all sports and is a keen golfer and when time allows, cricketer. He also enjoys wood and bone carving and lives with wife Lindsay and three teenage children.
