Local Government and Public Administrative Law
MACTODD has a very experienced team with specialist knowledge in all aspects of day to day local authority functions dedicated to providing advice and litigation support to local authorities.
Our team, led by partners Richard Cunliffe, Jayne Macdonald and Bryce Jack, has specialist knowledge in the areas of risk management, duties and obligations under the Local Government Act, bylaw making, enforcement, prosecution, liquor licensing, contract drafting and review, Roading and Public Works Act issues, dispute resolution and judicial review expertise as well as experience in dealing with LGOIMA requests and the more fundamental governance and process issues.
Our team has considerable experience in providing advice about appropriate process steps within the framework of the Local Government Act 2002, acting on numerous judicial review applications, drafting and providing advice about the bylaws, advising on public consultation, employment advice, acting on disputes in all courts and tribunals including arbitral tribunals, providing negotiation and mediation support. Beginning of 2012, MACTODD was appointed to an 11 member panel which provides advice to government agencies relating to environmental and resource management matters.
